Macy*s department store in New York has set up a flower show every spring. They have displayed flowers almost 40 years in the store. Now while some areas in the store are under renovations, the show was set up on Broadway Plaza, at Herald Square, right in front of the store. A huge tent stood tall, divided into three different themes.
The inspiration was “The Painted Garden” with Indian motifs.
In the first room stood a giant elephant, surrounded with multitude of flowers and plants. I had taken my macro lens only with me, and my pocket Canon camera. However I forgot one card at home and used the small object with NIKON only. Thus no giant overview photos 😦 But I got one of the smaller elephants!
The second room was named The Fountain Garden:
The last garden room was The Bazaar:
I was not inspired to take too many flower pictures, however. Each room, as colorful as they were, disappointed me with the same selection in all rooms; tightly planted, one pot next to the other, barely any variety from room to room. I did not detect any new of anything. These were flowers for city people, not for a gardeners.
There were no crowds early before the noon and the guides were very cheerful and friendly. Me and my friend, one who is retiring now, enjoyed great time spending a few hours in the City and shopping. Macy*s of course!
