Click the collage larger and enjoy these happy faces! This was the 69th annual powwow here on Long Island New York. There is an Indian nation called Shinnecock on the east end od the island. We make an effort to visit every year. The dancing competition and drums and the beat fill up the air. It’s not unusual to see over 100 different nations come together on Labor Day weekend here. Local food is plentiful the corn is sweet!. Different products are for sale from inexpensive souvenirs to pricey art jewelry and pottery. After so many years we meet to chat with people we have seen previously. They come from the next state or far away from South West Mexico Latin America and Canada. Their clothing very from local beautiful shammy leather to most colorful and feather decorated clothing. Some have painted faces some have paint running down like my mascara. Always a day well spent and enjoyed!
